Fremantle Boys High School. Highgate Sub-Branch member Since 2006. In 1949, Les joined the Merchant Navy as a Junior Engineering Officer before being commissioned into the Royal Australian Naval Reserve (RANR) in 1955. He served in the Strategic Reserve during the Malaysian Emergency and reverted to the RANR from 1960 to 1976. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
