Geoffrey Stooke OAM
Geoff is the Managing Director of Standard Wool Investments Pty Ltd (previously Standard Wool Australia Pty Ltd). He assumed the role in 1996 and following a successful management buy-out in 2004, he is now also the owner. He is also Chairman (and shareholder) of Troppus IT & Management Services Pty Ltd.
He has previously held senior positions in the fishing, food and resources industries and his early career was as a commissioned officer in the Australian Regular Army (RAE). This included service in Australia and overseas (1PIR). He holds or has held various company and or organisational directorships and is a Fellow of the AICD and a Fellow of the AIM. He is also Patron of the RAE Association (WA).
He has had a lifelong involvement in rugby and since 1965 has played over 850 grade games (still playing 4th Grade) and almost 100 representative games. He has coached at Club, State and National levels. He is active in various other sports and in 1987 was a grinder on the Kookaburra crew that competed in the 1987 America’s Cup Defence.
He is currently a Director of the Australian Rugby Union and a Director of the Reabold Tennis Club. Previously, he was Chairman of RugbyWA/Western Force from 1988 to 2011 and a Director of the Australian Sports Commission.
His honours and awards include the Medal of the Order of Australia, the Australian Sports Medal, the Centenary Medal and in 2006 he was the WA Citizen of the Year in the category of Sport. He is also a Life Member of RugbyWA, the Associates RUFC and the RAE Association (WA).
